Westsider Wrestling Club is a not for profit society that was born the combination of all the high schools on the West side of Vancouver training together as one team. We’ve now grown to include a kids program for kids 5-12 Years old.
For all ages the main goal is to have fun and get more kids playing sports. We combine gymnastics with games and wrestling techniques to develop physical literacy.
Our Coaches are all past University and Olympic wrestlers with a deep knowledge and love for the sport. We want to introduce wrestling to more kids at a young age to grow the sport in Vancouver.
The High School season starts November 4th and runs until the end of February. Any student grade 8-12 can join the team, regardless of what school they go to, experience level or grade. The cost for the season is $135.
The Elementary season goes from November 1 to March 1 and costs $150 if you register before October 1st and goes up to $175 thereafter. The registration fee includes registration/insurance with B.C. Wrestling, a T-Shirt and one session per week.
We are looking for someone to lead a study group after practice one night a week. Seeking someone who has a broad knowledge of high school curriculum and can work with wrestlers to make a study plan in order to manage athletics and academics. The commitment is 2-4 hours a week during the season. Please email email@example.com to inquire.
With a vibrant and growing program, we need more coaches all the time. No wrestling experience required. The assistant coaches will support the head coaches by helping with demonstrations and managing young wrestlers while they drill. Send all shows of interest to firstname.lastname@example.org
We are looking for someone with experience managing a website and social media to help keep members up to date and boost our online profile. We are focused on growth and increasing our exposure. Please send all inquiries to email@example.com
We had our practitioners Abby and Cody from SFU running PE classes at 6 West Side elementary schools over 6 weeks this spring. Huge THANK YOU to all the schools that participated. In total we had 2,100 kids try wrestling, most for the first time. They did a thorough warmup, some simple technique and played interactive/physical games. Wrestling is a fun and empowering sport that is open to anyone regardless of age, gender, race, athletic ability, physical prowess, height, weight, speed or financial status.
