Teaching Games for Understanding (TGFU) is an instructional model that shifts the traditional approach to teaching sports and games from focusing solely on skill development to emphasizing tactical understanding and decision-making within game contexts. TGFU aims to enhance both the learning and enjoyment of games by integrating skills into meaningful game situations.
Enhances the understanding of wrestling by placing an emphasis on modified wrestling games to explore skills, concepts, rules, strategies, and tactics of wrestling. Increase engagement of students by maximizing physical activity time within the time constraints of a phys- ed class.
A typical class (of 45 minutes) will have the students go through a warm-up, partner activities, gymnastic activities, and multiple wrestling games.
